Wrought Iron at the Front Line on a Larger Lot

Our team provides in-house welding and deep post footings, delivering matched iron pairs for homes and tested exit and entry gates for both residential and commercial projects. Single walk gates at a front path and 24 ft community exit gates sit among over 1,187 completed projects in 12 years in business, and our 2-year workmanship warranty backs each.

From reading the setback rules on a half-acre lot to mounting an operator at each post, our team handles every detail. Serving Cedar Park and nearby Leander, Georgetown and Round Rock, we build gates for lots where the front line is long and the city lets iron sit closer to the street.

Vince owns a half-acre lot off New Hope Drive and wanted iron at the front line on a lot over 20,000 sq ft. We set the line at the 6 ft front setback Cedar Park allows for wrought iron on a lot that size, and built a 16 ft opening with two 8 ft leaves in wrought iron style steel with a matte black powder coat. Each leaf has its own operator at the post, the pair meets on a center stop, and the finished side faces the street as the code asks. It was an estimated $4,600 to $6,400 project over an estimated 2 to 3 days.

Deb sits on a residents' board off RM 1431 that needed a worn exit gate replaced without shutting residents out for a day. We built a 24 ft cantilever exit gate in galvanized tube with a black powder coat, phased the work to hold the entry lane open and gave the board a schedule to post before we started. It was an estimated $8,000 to $10,000 job over an estimated 3 to 4 days, and the board now has the handover test log on file.

Cedar Park's 3 Ft and 6 Ft Front Setback

A Cedar Park front fence normally sits 3 ft back from the property line, and a wrought iron fence on a lot over 20,000 sq ft may sit 6 ft back instead. Post footings are 24 to 36 in deep and 10 to 12 in wide, poured in 3,000 to 4,000 PSI concrete, checked against the soil found on site, so the 6 ft line leaves room to pour them on your side. Side and rear fences in the city may reach 8 ft, barbed and razor wire are not allowed, and the finished side of any fence faces the right of way.

A corner or driveway entry also has a sight triangle, which Cedar Park holds to 3 ft tall or 30% solid. We keep pickets 3.5 to 3.875 in apart at the corner, as our own spec, and set posts clear of the triangle, and a hand-forged front line is typically estimated at $85 to $130 per linear foot where the lot wants the look of old iron.

No Permit, but Sec 14.07.007 Still Applies

Cedar Park does not ask for a fence permit, but Sec 14.07.007 of the city code still governs the fence you build. We read the section against your survey before we quote, because a gate that skips the permit still has to meet the height, setback and finish rules. The written quote names the setback we planned around, and our 2-year workmanship warranty covers the welds, hinges, footings and operator installation built to it.

Gates Along US 183, 183A and Whitestone Blvd

Most Cedar Park gate jobs are a single swing or dual swing driveway gate on a lot with room for the leaves, plus a community entry or two near the main roads. The city sits along US 183, the 183A Toll Road and RM 1431 (Whitestone Blvd), with New Hope Drive running through the larger lots, and the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park and the Cedar Park Depot mark the middle of town. On those larger lots a dual swing estate gate with operators is typically estimated at $4,000 to $8,000, while the community exits off the main roads lean toward a trackless cantilever gate, typically estimated at $6,000 to $10,000.

Frame steel is 14-gauge tube for standard leaves, 11-gauge to 3/16 in where a long or tall leaf has to hold its line. Each leaf hangs on ball-bearing pairs rated from 500 to more than 1,500 lbs, matched to the weight of the finished leaf. The operators on these long front lines are 24V DC brushless motors with battery backup, sized to leaf weight, length and duty cycle. Vince's and Deb's gates both carry monitored photo eyes and edge sensors, and both reversed on every device at handover.

Storm Surges and Dead Keypads

When a Cedar Park gate goes dead, the board or the keypad is usually the first thing to check. Lance, off Whitestone Blvd, had a gate that stopped after a surge and a keypad that no longer lit. We traced the low-voltage run, replaced the burned control board and added a surge device on the supply side, an estimated $720 to $1,400 repair that took an estimated 4 to 8 hours. Entry devices on a Cedar Park gate can be video intercom, keypad, phone app, remote or vehicle loop, wired or solar with a 10 to 30W panel.

What a Gate Costs in Cedar Park

Gate Materials for Cedar Park Properties

Owners on larger lots usually choose wrought iron fencing for the front line, dual swing driveway gates for a wide opening, and custom driveway gates when the scroll or arch has to match the house.

Why Cedar Park Owners Hire Our Crew

Our Cedar Park location manager covers Cedar Park, Leander and Steiner Ranch, and reads the setback and HOA paperwork on each lot before a post hole is marked. The finish starts at the base: G90 hot-dip galvanizing or a zinc-phosphate and e-coat base goes on before any color. The topcoat above it, on a pair like Vince's, is TGIC polyester powder coat at 3 to 5 mils, oven cured, picked from physical samples.
