Nadia's estate lot off Barton Creek Boulevard in Barton Creek needed a 20 ft arched pair between two stone-clad columns. The architectural review committee wanted a low arch and a brown finish, so we built the 20 ft pair in 3/16 in steel, bronze powder coat, stone-clad columns, and hid the operators behind the columns. Nadia's 20 ft arched entry came to an estimated $6,200 to $8,000 and took an estimated 2 to 3 days on site. Nothing shows from the road in Barton Creek except the gates and the stone.

What an Estate Entry Needs Beyond a Gate

An estate entry is a gate plus the structure around it, so the columns, the arch and the finish decide whether it clears review. The gate is the last piece hung in Lakeway or Leander, after the footings and the stone are set.

  • Columns: stone-clad piers carry the hinge load and hide the operator, which is why 24 to 36 in deep footings are poured first.
  • Arch: a low arch reads quieter than a tall one, and a committee in West Lake Hills often asks for it.
  • Finish: flat-top rails and brown or bronze finishes are stocked for neighborhoods whose design rules bar spear points or black.
  • Operators: 24V DC brushless motors with battery backup sit behind the piers, out of sight from the drive.

Estate Entry Gate Cost in Round Rock

An estate entry gate in Round Rock typically costs an estimated $4,000 to $8,000 for a dual swing pair with its operators, before any column or stone work. The opening width, the arch and the finish move the number most, and the columns are priced by the mason, not by us.

Review Committee, Permit and HOA Rules for an Estate Entry

Round Rock leaves an estate frontage free of a residential fence permit, yet a Certificate of Appropriateness comes first on a Historic Overlay lot, and street-facing fences over 4 ft answer to a 2016 ordinance. A committee in Barton Creek can set its own rules: Barton Creek guidelines run 6 to 8 ft with bronze or brown wrought-iron-style pickets, and Amarra Phase 2 prohibits front-yard gated driveways. Texas SB 711 lets an HOA in Cedar Park or Georgetown require a driveway gate set back 10 ft where the driveway meets a laned road, effective September 1, 2025. Round Rock's Fire Marshal published Emergency Access Controlled Gate Systems Guidelines in July 2023 for fire-lane gates, and a house entry is not a fire-lane gate. We read the covenant before we draw, from Round Rock to Leander.

Column, Arch and Footing Risks on an Estate Entry

An estate entry fails when a column moves, so on a Lakeway or Steiner Ranch estate the footing is the part we plan around. A stone column carries a heavy leaf on a ball-bearing pair rated from 500 to more than 1,500 lbs, and a footing set on soft ground can lean. We pour to the depth the soil allows and check it on site, since the Balcones Escarpment splits blackland east from limey loam west and we make no assumption about where it changes. A tall arch also catches wind, so we weld the arch as one piece and test the reversal at every point of travel.

Materials and Finishes for an Estate Entry

Steel carries a wide arched leaf best, and the finish keeps it from fading. Compare frames on our steel gate installation page, forged ornament on our wrought iron gates page, and the gated entries we build for neighborhoods on our gated community entries page. G90 hot-dip galvanizing or a zinc-phosphate and e-coat base goes on before any color, then TGIC polyester powder coat at 3 to 5 mils.

Why Estate Owners Choose Our Entries

Barton Creek and Round Rock owners choose us because the same crew draws the arch, welds the leaves and hangs them on the columns. Over 1,187 projects in 12 years have taught us what a committee asks for, and the 2-year workmanship warranty stands behind the welds.
