Ximena's new backyard pool near The Park on Doe Run in Shady Hollow came with deed rules that call for pool gates that close on their own. We set tight powder-coated aluminum pickets around the Shady Hollow deck for Ximena, with a latch above a small child's reach and a self-closing gate on 70 linear ft of 5 ft fence. The job came to an estimated $2,300 to $3,000 and took an estimated 1 to 3 days on site, and the gate swings shut and latches from every open angle.

Aluminum, Steel or Iron Around a Pool

Aluminum suits most pools in Round Rock and Georgetown, ornamental steel suits a taller barrier on a Lakeway slope, and hand-forged iron suits a front elevation that wants scrollwork.

Pool Barrier Codes and Safety Risks

Round Rock needs no residential fence permit, but pool plans follow the 2024 ISPSC, so we read those plans before we set a barrier near Old Settlers Park or La Frontera, the same as anywhere else in the city. Shady Hollow puts pool fencing on the plat, wants gates that close automatically, and makes the homeowner answer for self-closing latches, while a like-for-like replacement needs no approval and any other change needs written committee approval and an Architectural Improvement Permit. A Georgetown pool line needs a fence permit under UDC 8.07, and so does a repair over a third of the fence. Lakeway asks a permit for new fences under Sec 24.02.442 and requires a continuous flat top, and flat-top rails and brown or bronze finishes are stocked for neighborhoods whose design rules bar spear points or black.

Pool Fence Installation Steps

We measure the pool line, mark the posts away from the coping, dig footings 24 to 36 in deep and 10 to 12 in wide, poured in 3,000 to 4,000 PSI concrete, set the posts plumb, and hang the gate so it swings shut and latches from every open angle, which is how Ximena's gate passed the walk-through in Shady Hollow.

Pool Fence Materials and Gates

A pool fence and its gate should match in picket, coat and spacing, so a gate on a Round Rock or Georgetown pool line is built from the same stock. See our pedestrian entry gates for Cedar Park walk-through openings, or the longer runs on our wrought iron fencing page, and we check the Balcones Escarpment soil at every post.

Why Pool Owners Choose Our Fencing

Every pool fence is covered by our 2-year workmanship warranty on our welds, hinges, footings and operator installation. Any aluminum panels on a pool line keep the maker's limited lifetime coverage on structure and finish, and if the gate has an operator, its maker typically covers motors and control electronics for 1 to 5 years on parts, depending on the model.

Pool Safety Fencing Service Areas

We build pool fences across Central Texas, with most work in Georgetown, Cedar Park and Shady Hollow, plus Leander and the other cities on our service area page.
