Blake's greenbelt lot above Lake Austin in Steiner Ranch needed 110 linear ft of 5 ft fence on the rear line, and the rear line had to stay open to the view. We filed the committee package first and stepped galvanized ornamental steel panels with a black powder coat down the Steiner Ranch slope. The job came to an estimated $6,200 to $9,000 and took an estimated 2 to 4 days on site, and it passed Blake's walk-through.

Ornamental Steel, Wrought Iron or Aluminum

Ornamental steel suits most Round Rock yards, hand-forged iron suits a front elevation that wants scrollwork, and aluminum suits a pool line or a fence that must never rust.

HOA Rules and City Codes to Check

Round Rock needs no residential fence permit, but the Historic Overlay near Old Town needs a Certificate of Appropriateness, and a street-facing fence over 4 ft near Old Settlers Park or La Frontera falls under the 2016 ordinance. Steiner Ranch lets greenbelt lots use wrought iron on the rear line only without committee approval, and allows no gate between a unit and open space, as Blake's lot above Lake Austin showed. A Lakeway run must finish in a continuous flat top, because spiked and open-picket fencing has been banned there since 2019, and our flat-top rails and brown or bronze finishes stay stocked for any neighborhood whose design rules bar spear points or black. Georgetown requires a fence permit under UDC 8.07 along Williams Drive and across the rest of the city, and Cedar Park under Sec 14.07.007 requires none but sets a 3 ft front setback along New Hope Drive.

Fence Installation Steps

We survey the line, dig footings 24 to 36 in deep and 10 to 12 in wide, poured in 3,000 to 4,000 PSI concrete, set the posts plumb, and rack each panel to the grade, since panels adjust 24 to 36 in over an 8 ft run on a Leander hillside.

Iron Fence Materials and Gates

A fence and its gate should match in steel, coat and picket spacing, so a pedestrian gate on a Round Rock or Georgetown run is built from the same stock. See our wrought iron gates or pedestrian entry gates for Cedar Park walk-through openings, and we check the Balcones Escarpment soil at every post.

Why Owners Choose Our Iron Fence Work

Every fence, Blake's Steiner Ranch run included, is covered by our 2-year workmanship warranty on our welds, hinges, footings and operator installation. On a line with an automated gate, the operator maker answers for motors and control electronics, typically 1 to 5 years on parts depending on the model, and on an aluminum run the panel maker's limited lifetime coverage takes in structure and finish.

Wrought Iron Fencing Service Areas

We build iron fences across the north and west sides of the Austin metro, with most runs in Steiner Ranch, Lakeway and Georgetown, plus Cedar Park and the other cities on our service area page.
